AUSSIES ABROAD: Young Aussie duo Tommy Oar and Adam Sarota both made appearances at Anfield as FC Utrecht claimed a goalless draw against English giants Liverpool in the Europa League overnight.
Oar was a 71th-minute substitute while Sarota was an 86th-minute substitute, as Utrecht bowed out with a hard-fought point away from home.
For Liverpool, Socceroo Brad Jones made his second appearance for the Reds, playing the full game in goals and keeping a clean sheet.
Elsewhere in the Europa League, Brett Holman put in a full shift as AZ Alkmaar finished off their campaign with a 3-0 victory over BATE Borisov.
Holman had a chance to score moments before the interval when his shot was tipped around the post by BATE keeper Sergey Vemenko.
AZ fielded a weakened side but there was still no room for James Holland.
Meanwhile, Socceroos 50-man squad member Ersan Gulum was a 23rd-minute substitute as Besiktas defeated Rapid Vienna 2-0, while Mitch Langerak was an unused sub as Dortmund bowed out after a 2-2 draw at FC Sevilla.
In the World Club Cup, Sasa Ognenovski played a full game in defence as Seongnam Ilhwa were bundled out of the competition after being beaten 3-0 by Inter Milan.
