Newcastle Jets striker Roy O'Donovan has received a 10-match ban for his Grand Final clash with Lawrence Thomas.
In the dying minutes of the 2018 Grand Final, a high-boot from O'Donovan caught the Victory goalkeeper in the jaw, causing a sickening collission which left Thomas to celebrate bruised, bandaged and little concussed.
Referee Jarred Gillet promptly red-carded O'Donovan following the foul. In their ruling, FFA handed down the 10-match suspension after a lengthy decision-making process which was delayed multiple times.

This is the second time the Irish forward has received a substantial ban from FFA's tribunal, the other occuring in 2015 for a headbutt on Melbourne City's Manny Muscat, for which he received an eight game suspension.
O'Donovan and the Jets have seven days to appeal the decision.
