Newcastle Jets striker Roy O'Donovan's 10-match ban will remain in place after his appeal to have it reduced fell on deaf ears.
O'Donovan caught Melbourne Victory goalkeeper Lawrence Thomas with a shocking high-kick in the dying moments of the Jets' defeat to Melbourne Victory in the A-League grand final, and was swiftly issued a straight red card.
The Irishman was later hit with a 10-game ban - the second-largest in A-League history.

Ahead of his formal meeting with the FFA's Independent Appeal Committee on Tuesday, O'Donovan had appeared on Fox Sports News to plead his innocence.
“I thought I had the chance of winning the ball,” said the 32 year-old, who scored nine goals in 16 games in his debut season for the Jets following last year's switch from rivals Central Coast.
“It was unfortunate, I apologised to Lawrence after the match, he’s a great lad and he deserved that Man of the Match on the night," he added.
“Fortunately the goalkeeper wasn’t hurt. I'm very apologetic about it. Just because it’s Roy O’Donovan doesn’t mean I’m Satan.”
