The former Bolton player watched the Tigers go down to a 2-1 defeat at Blackpool in a match overshadowed by a serious injury to Caleb Folan.

Folan, who joined Hull for $2.5million from Premier League Wigan last week, was taken to hospital after being involved in a sickening clash of heads with Blackpool defender Kaspars Gorkss, with the Latvian also forced off with blood pouring from a deep cut.

The game was held up for almost 10 minutes as the striker, who was initially unconscious following the challenge, received treatment, with Brown even coming on to the pitch to check on his stricken record signing.

After the match at Bloomfield Road, Brown revealed Folan, who was making his debut, would be spending 24 hours in hospital following the head injury.

He said: "It was very worrying. He appeared to be unconscious for a couple of minutes but he was talking as they led him out of the ground on a stretcher."

The Tigers boss also also revealed more details about Okocha's arrival.

"We have had talks and there will be a press conference at Hull City tomorrow with Jay-Jay," he said.

"I think he is the sort of player who will give us the creativity we need in midfield.

"Blackpool had that sort of player tonight in the lad Wes Hoolahan and that was the difference between the sides. He could stand on the ball and make things happen."

Blackpool clinched the three points when former Hull striker Ben Burgess headed home in the eighth minute of injury time.

Gary Taylor-Fletcher had put the home side in front just a minute into the second half after an error from Andy Dawson, but Ian Ashbee's smart finish levelled matters just three minutes later, only for Burgess to win it late on.

Blackpool manager Simon Grayson said: "It was good to get that victory in before the international break. Hull are a good side but we dug in and kept going when they were on top.

"I decided to put on Ben Burgess to give their centre halves a bit more to do. It also allowed Keigan Parker to move out to the right and get the crosses in which he did and Burgess did well to score a goal he really wanted against his old club."

Blackpool had the first chance with less than 20 seconds gone when a quick free-kick from David Fox found Andy Morrell on the edge of the box, but his shot on the turn was comfortably saved by Duke.

The home side had a great chance with virtually the last kick of the first-half as Gorkss fired over from 18 yards when he ought to have at least hit the target.

But the deadlock was broken a minute after the break when Dawson made a hash of attempting to clear Parker's cross and Taylor-Fletcher was left with a simple left-footed finish from five yards out.

However, the Tigers were back level within three minutes when a long ball was headed on by Stuart Elliott and Folan cleverly left the ball, which fell perfectly for Ashbee to rifle home.

The delay meant there were an incredible 11 minutes of stoppage-time, and Shaun Barker's header was well saved as Blackpool pushed for a winner.

And that winner came courtesy of Burgess, who climbed above Dawson at the back post to smack home a header off the post from Parker's cross.

Paul Rachubka had to make a save from a Michael Turner header as the clock ticked past 100 minutes in this pulsating game, before Dawson's 20-yard free-kick - the final kick of the game - went just over the bar.
