The Olyroos were defeated 2-0 by Malaysian Super League side Petaling Jaya FC last night at the UTIM Stadium in Shah Alam.
The Australians are in Kuala Lumpur this week to prepare for their first stage of Tokyo 2020 AFC U23 Championship Qualifiers (Group H).
Australia’s starting line up was: Tom Glover (GK), Nathaniel Atkinson, Ivan Vujica, Tass Mourdoukoutas, Joey Champness, Riley McGree (c), Aiden O’Neill, Keanu Baccus, Lachy Wales, Brandon Wilson, Pierce Waring.
PJFC are currently third bottom of the 12-team Malaysian Super League. The game was delayed for 20 minutes because the Australian squad got caught in traffic on the way to the game.
The friendly was their first hit out ahead of next week’s group opener in Cambodia where they face the hosts in front of an expected sellout crowd in Phenom Penh.
The Olyroos face Malaysia U-23s on Sunday before leaving for Cambodia.
