EXCLUSIVE: The Olyroos will play in a tournament next month in Malaysia as part of the side’s preparations for the Beijing Olympics.
Graham Arnold’s squad will have a camp in Australia early in May before jetting off to Malaysia to gain more valuable match practice.
Five weeks ago, the Olyroos drew 1-1 with Mexico in front of a 40,000 plus crowd in San Francisco.
These matches continue an impressive match schedule for the national U/23s side, which qualified in style for the Olympics with a 1-1 draw in Pyongyang, North Korea last November.
For this Malaysian tournament, Arnold may wish to bring back players from Europe who are struggling to see game time at their respective clubs.
And with Danny Vukovic unlikely to play at the Olympics, Arnold may use this as an opportunity to have a look at Liverpool’s promising reserve team goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis.
The 17-year-old starlet is said to have been stung by a lack of interest from the FFA however a recent phone call by Socceroo goalkeeping coach Tony Franken to the player may be the signal that things are about to change.
