Brandon O'Neill says Sydney FC is full of respect for its FFA Cup quarter-final opponents Blacktown City but confident the Sky Blues can get the job done.
Sydney FC and Blacktown City meet in the Cup next week at Sydney United Sports Centre.
The A-League side booked their spot in the final eight with a win over Perth Glory while the NSW NPL champions defeated Bonnyrigg White Eagles in the round of 16.
"We respect them thoroughly," O'Neill told FourFourTwo.
"They've won a grand final in the NSW Premier League and to do that you have to be a good team. They are a very good team, they've got some good players, some players with A-League experience.
"But we expect our team to go down there and win and progress to the semi-final as you want to do. That's what we'll be aiming to do, to put on a good performance, be clinical, play some very good football and go through to the semi-final.
"But we can't go in there underestimating them or over-thinking them because they are a very good team."
Blacktown City took out the NSW NPL grand final on Sunday with a 3-0 win against Sydney United.
And with xext week's FFA Cup quarter-final will take place on a synthetic pitch, Sky Blues midfielder O'Neill admits the surface will be an advantage for the Demons.
"That's something we'll have to overcome, it's an advantage for them," he said.
"We'll have training sessions on the astro and I don't think it will take too long to become acustomed to playing on that type of surface. And when it comes down to it, it will be 90 minutes or 120 minutes of football with both teams playing on the same surface, with the same kind of luck.
"Whoever turns up on that night, plays the better football and scores the most goals wins the game. We don't have too much worries about it, we're really looking forward to trying out a different surface."
O'Neill joined Sydney FC last season from Perth Glory where The 22-year old made 21 appearances in his debut campaign in the Harbour City.
"Last season was very good but I can't rest on my laurels," he said.
"I need to improve and keep getting better and better as a player. I felt last season I was still getting used to the pace of the A-League, to the kind of intensity of it. I felt just at the back end of the season I was just starting getting used to it.
"Last season was good in terms of game time but consistency is the main thing, especially being a midfielder. Week-in week-out you need to play well and you need to be doing it consistently.
"I think this season, along with winning something, If I can improve in certain areas of my game and play consistent football, I'll be very happy.
