The Socceroos defeated the Dutchmen 2-1 in Eindhoven last September, a result which shocked the football world, and followed a 1-1 draw between the two countries in the lead-up to Germany 2006.

Having spent 12 years in the Dutch Eredivisie before joining A-League high-flyers Gold Coast this year, Culina knows first-hand the impact the losses to Australian had on the proud Oranje.

"A few years back we didn't have the respect from certain nations that we do know," Culina said. "Beating the likes of Holland gains even more respect and I'm sure it hurt them.

"They want to win every game - they've got a lot of pride - and that's probably why they want to come here and play against us.

"Hopefully they bring out a full strength team and if they do the Australian public is going to see a great game with some great players."

Culina is certain the visitors, ranked third in the world, will bring their strongest possible squad to Australia for the match at Sydney Football Stadium on October 10 in a bid to end the Socceroos' recent dominance.

"We've got the two good results against them - 1-all in Rotterdam and 2-1 last time we played them in Eindhoven - and it just goes to show how we're improving all the time as a footballing nation," Culina said

"To have an advantage over one of the greatest teams in the world is absolutely great. They will want to make amends so I don't think they will leave too many players out.

"For them to come out to Australia - a world-class team - is fantastic for everyone. As the Socceroos get better and better, we're going to tempt these better teams to come over and play against us."

The Dutch international falls four days before Australia's crucial Asian Cup qualifier against Oman in Melbourne.

The Socceroos have just one point from two games and desperately need victory over the Group B leaders.

"We almost forgot about that one but that is a very important game," Culina said of the meeting with Oman.

"We are not doing too well at the moment in our Asian Cup qualifying group and we're looking to make that better.

"We need to win games and against Oman in Melbourne we're looking to have a great game and a great win because that's what we need to do."

"I'm sure the boys are well aware of that."
