AUSSIES ABROAD: Luke DeVere’s Gyeongnam have dealt a major blow to the title aspirations of Eddy Bosnar’s Suwon Bluewings with a crushing 3-0 defeat.
The Bluewings dominated possession from the outset and heaped constant pressure on DeVere and the Gyeongnam defence.
However, they weren’t able to capitalize on their dominance, and some fine counter attacking play from Gyeongnam saw Suwon slump to their second successive defeat.
Bosnar played the full match and had a chance to give his team an early lead, but he couldn’t get his header on target.
DeVere put in another commanding performance at the back and did an excellent job of containing the aerial threat posed by Stevica Ristic.
In the 63rd minute, Lee Sang Ho had the opportunity to pull one back for Suwon, but Devere was on hand to block his shot.
Elsewhere in Korea, Robbie Cornthwaite played a full match and Matt Simon was an unused substitute as Chunnam Dragons drew 1-1 with Seongnam Ilwha.
Matt McKay and Nathan Burns were both out injured for Incheon United’s 2-1 victory of Busan I’Park.
In the J-League, Alex Brosque put in a full shift as Shimizu S-Pulse fought out a goalless draw with Kawasaki Frontale.
Brosque’s best moment of the game came in the 31st minute when he outpaced his marker and delivered a neat pass to Yosuke Kawai, who had his shot well blocked by the Frontale keeper.
Josh Kennedy ended his eight-game goalless run with a clever back heeled strike during Nagoya Grampus’s 2-1 victory over Kashiwa Reysol.
Meanwhile, Jade North was suspended for Consadole Sapporo’s 1-0 loss to Albirex Niigata, while Matthew Spiranovic was not selected for Urawa’s 4-3 victory over Sagan Tosu.
In the Chinese Super League, Daniel Mullen made his debut for Dalian Aerbin during the 1-1 draw with Milan Susak’s Tianjin Teda. Mullen came on after the break, while Susak played the full 90 minutes.

In Europe, James Holland started and played 76 minutes during Austria Wien’s 3-1 victory over West Ham United.
On loan forward Mathew Leckie played 60 minutes and made an assist as FSV Frankfurt defeated Fernwald 3-0.
