For Zaragoza, Garcia's 90th-minute header may have saved them from defeat but it was not enough to see them climb back above fourth-placed Valencia and into the Champions League places.

And for UEFA Cup hopefuls Osasuna, a solitary point means they will still be looking nervously over their shoulders at the relegation dogfight just below them.

Despite moving closer to a first-ever European final on Thursday by beating Sevilla 1-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Cup final, Osasuna still had relegation concerns on the domestic front and came came into this weekend's fixtures just six points above the bottom three.

However, Jose Angel Ziganda's side, clearly buoyed by their win over Sevilla, looked anything but relegation candidates as they flew out of the blocks on Sunday.

Pierre Webo had already gone close with a glancing header that was superbly clawed away by Zaragoza goalkeeper Cesar Sanchez when Juanlu put the hosts 1-0 up after five minutes at the Reyno de Navarro stadium.

Valmiro Valdo chipped a cross into the area which skimmed off the head of a Zaragoza defender before falling kindly to Juanlu at the far post, and he drilled a first-time volley past Cesar.

However Zaragoza, who still harboured title hopes after moving to within six points of leaders Barcelona with victory over Celta last weekend, took just seven minutes to draw level through returning playmaker Pablo Aimar.

Aimar sat out the win over Celta but he was back in the starting line-up on Sunday and drew Zaragoza level when he curled a 25-yard free-kick into the back of the net via the foot of Ricardo's right-hand post.

Both sides then had chances to take the lead in an entertaining first half, with Andres D'Alessandro and Aimar going close for the visitors and Webo firing straight at Cesar at the other end.

Juanlu also had a chance to net his second goal of the half but he blazed over when well-placed seven yards out.

Osasuna started the second half brightly and they twice tested Cesar before Valdo put them back in front in the 55th minute.

Picking up a loose ball on the edge of the box, Valdo stepped around a Zaragoza defender before curling a low shot into the corner of the net.

Juanlu then tested Cesar with a stinging shot as Osasuna looked to put daylight between themselves and their visitors.

But the home side were unable to find what could have been a decisive third goal, and they were made to pay the price when substitute Garcia somehow managed to head home Alberto Zapater's late free-kick.

Zapater's deep cross looked to be going out but Garcia got his head to the ball just a yard in from the byline and near the edge of the six-yard box, before sending a looping header over Ricardo and into the net.
