SOCCEROO coach Holger Osieck admitted he was 'satisfied' as he watched his side pass their way to the brink of qualifying from the latest stage on the Road to Brazil 2014.
Australia's 3-0 win over Oman in Sydney tonight left the Socceroos top of their group with a perfect nine points from three wins out of three games.
But what pleased Osieck most was the comfortable way the Socceroos did it, with a cultured passing game, despite missing veteran regulars Tim Cahill, Harry Kewell, Brett Emerton and Mark Schwarzer.
"I am absolutely delighted," Osieck admitted after the match. "You never know where you stand before a game. I knew [Oman] were with their back to the wall, they had to win.
"You never what kind of team you face then - it could be a very aggressive one - but I think from the very beginning we had good control.
"In the game, we moved the ball well, there was always options, there was always support on the ball. That's what I like to see and as I keep saying, we want to be a passing team.
"We are really getting into that direction and on top we create a lot of good opportunities. Unfortunately in the first half, we only scored from one.
"But I think the score 3-0 is okay. We can be, not happy, but in a way satisfied."
He added: "I can be a little bit realistic, sometimes too cool because there is no reason now to be euphoric.
"But the boys know the direction and we stil have to gain a couple of points to ensure we qualify for the next round.
"We are in a good way, we are a good passing team and that's what I like to see and if we carry on that way we will still raise our level of play and that is my target.
"I think what we did well was that even under pressure we tried to play out.
"There was always kind of triangle play, there was always opportunity to play the ball up and the guy who received the ball had the game infront of them so we could pass from there.
"The passing was pretty accurate, pretty crisp and yeah that's what I want to see."
