The striker reacted furiously after Roma lost Sunday's Coppa Italia final to bitter rivals Lazio 1-0.

Senad Lulic grabbed the winner in the second half of a dour contest between the Roman rivals and, having started the game on the bench, Osvaldo was seen arguing with his coach Aurelio Andreazzoli at full-time before refusing to accept a losers' medal and reportedly blasting Andreazzoli on Twitter.

Prandelli has firmly refused to call players up who are guilty of misdemeanours at club level in the past, with key players such as Mario Balotelli and Daniele De Rossi having previously fallen foul of the former Fiorentina boss’ approach.

An Italian Football Association statement read: "Pablo Daniel Osvaldo will not take part in the Confederations Cup, due to the Roma player’s behaviour yesterday (Sunday).

"After having lost the Italian Cup, he abandoned the presentation ceremony without his club's authorisation."

Meanwhile, more than 10,000 Roma fans have added their signature to a petition set up by radio station Centro Suono Sport in the aftermath of the cup loss, calling for Andreazzoli to leave the club.

Roma finished sixth in Serie A and Andreazzoli, who was placed in charge for the rest of the season after Zdenek Zeman's sacking in February, appears unlikely to take the reins long-term with Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri widely tipped to take over.
