Bayern took an early lead through Mario Gomez but in-form striker Stefan Kiessling replied six minutes later to take Leverkusen back above Werder Bremen at the top of the table and maintain their unbeaten record this season.

Bayern are down in seventh with questions already being asked of coach Louis van Gaal and prominent players speaking out.

Vice-captain and Germany international Lahm has already been fined once this season for questioning the club's recruitment policy.

But he was not holding back following the stalemate at the Allianz Arena.

He said: "When Bayern are seventh, you can see the confidence is cracked.

"We have made too many mistakes and have problems going forward.

"We have seen that our game is lame and sick."

Van Gaal bemoaned his side's inability to grab a second goal.

"We wanted three points, because that would have taken us to within three points of the top," said the Dutchman.

"But we've not been able to do it. We lacked confidence in the first half, we weren't well organised, and we rode our luck.

"We created a lot more pressure after half-time and we could have scored. But I've been saying this same thing for weeks."

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge admitted his displeasure at the way the season was panning out.

"We're unhappy, because none of us likes the situation in the league table," he said.

"The fans don't like it, the coach doesn't like it, the team doesn't like it, and neither do we, naturally enough.

"We need a big win to relieve the pressure, but we've missed out today.

"It was a very good game from both teams in the first half, but results are what matters at the end of the day and unfortunately, we've again failed to win.

"We need to work with the team and get things moving in a positive direction again. We'll do that and hope it works out."
