Amanatidis gave an interview to the Frankfurter Rundschau newspaper in which he accused Skibbe of inventing excuses not to pick him despite being fit enough to play.

He has started only four matches this season, with Skibbe repeatedly stating he has a back injury - something which Amanatidis has denied.

The remarks have not gone down well with the Frankfurt coach, however, and the 29-year-old has now been sidelined indefinitely.

"Amanatidis no longer plays a role under Michael Skibbe," Skibbe said at a press conference today.

"He no longer has any place in my plans."

Amanatidis rejoined Frankfurt from Kaiserslautern in 2005, having previously played for the club for six months in 2004, and he has made a total of 133 appearances, scoring 42 goals.

The Greece international will continue to train with the first team, but will no longer be part of Skibbe's matchday squad.
