The former Brisbane Roar captain came on in place of Gregg Wylde with six minutes remaining at Tannadice and experienced his first win with the Scottish giants.

Elsewhere in the Scottish Premier League, Ryan McGowan failed to make the match day squad for Hearts in their 1-1 draw away to Inverness CT.

In the English Premier League, Mark Schwarzer was involved in a sickening head clash with Junior Hoilett in Fulham’s 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers.

The incident took place in injury time as Blackburn searched for a late winner. Hoilett attempted to nod a through ball past Mark Schwarzer however the pair clashed heads and the Blackburn winger was stretchered off in a neck brace.

At Goodison Park, Socceroo Tim Cahill was deployed as a striker in Everton’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa. In a match that Everton dominated, Villa escaped with a point thanks to a late equaliser from Gabriel Agbonlahor. Chris Herd was an unused substitute for Villa.

Neil Kilkenny played another 90 minutes but it was not enough to prevent Bristol City from suffering a 1-0 defeat at home to high-flying Brighton. City are now winless in four games and sit one point above the relegation zone in the NPower Championship.

Middlesbrough continued their fine form with a 2-0 win at Turf Moor, their first win at Burnley in 17 years. Socceroo’s Rhys Williams and Scott McDonald put in full shifts for Boro as they continue their climb up the table.

Elsewhere, Patrick Kisnorbo and Mile Jedinak went head-to-head in the clash between Leeds United and Crystal Palace. Both players put in full shifts but it was Kisnorbo’s side that eventually secured all 3 points with a 3-2 win at Elland Road.

Socceroo Mile Jedinak was instrumental in Palace’s equaliser, delivering a cross into the box that Paddy McCarthy happily converted.

Adam Federici continued in goal for Reading but it was not enough to stop a fourth straight defeat as Watford triumphed 2-0 and picked up their first league win of the season in the process.

In the Bundesliga, former Adelaide forward Matthew Leckie was an unused substitute in Borussia Monchengladbach’s 1-0 win at home to lowly Kaiserslautern.

Elsewhere, Nikita Rukavytsya’s Hertha Berlin prevailed 2-1 against defending Bundesliga Champions, Borussia Dortmund. Nikita was introduced in the 58th minute while Mitchell Langerak took his place on the bench for Dortmund.

Goals from Raffael and Niemeyer in the second half proved too much for Klopp’s men, leaving Dortmund one point behind of Hertha.

In 2.Bundesliga, Socceroo Robbie Kruse was absent from Fortuna Dusseldorf’s 4-2 victory over Karlsruher SC. Fortuna currently sits in second place, three points behind league leader Greuther Furth.

Socceroo Brett Holman was a 63rd minute substitute in AZ Alkmaar’s convincing 4-0 win over Vitesse at the AFAS Stadion. AZ were far too strong and currently sit one point behind Ajax in the Eredivisie.

Elsewhere, the Australian trio of Michael Zullo, Tommy Oar and Adam Sarota all saw game time in FC Utrecht’s 3-2 win against Excelsior who sit at the foot of the table. Zullo played the entire match, Oar was withdrawn in the 72nd minute while Sarota made a cameo appearance with only minutes remaining.

In the Russian Premier League, Socceroo Luke Wilkshire played a full 90 minutes as Dinamo Moscow moved within two points of top spot following their emphatic 4-0 win over CSKA Moscow.

Across in Italy’s Serie B, Socceroo midfielder Carl Valeri completed a full 90 minutes as Sassuolo defeated Cittadella 2-0 at the Stadio Alberto Braglia to move into third place.

In the Croatian 1.HNL, Ljubo Milicevic and Steven Lustica were involved in Hajduk Split’s 1-1 home draw against fierce rival and league leader, Dinamo Zagreb. Split were forced to play with 10 men early in the first half following the dismissal of Mario Brkljaca for two bookable offences.

Recent Socceroo hero, Josh Kennedy played a full 90 minutes in Nagoya Grampus’ 2-1 loss away to Kashiwa Reysol. The loss sees Nagoya slip down to fourth and four points behind Gamba Osaka.

Matthew Spiranovic did not make an appearance from the bench in Urawa Red Diamond’s 1-0 loss Montedio Yamagata. A 2nd minute strike from Yamagata striker Masato Yamazaki proved to be the difference between the two sides and leaves Urawa winless in four league games.

Shimizu S-Pulse suffered a 2-1 away defeat at the hands of Jubilo Iwata. Eddie Bosnar put in a full shift while Alex Brosque was introduced at the break in a game that saw former Celtic midfielder Freddy Ljungberg make his debut for Shimizu as a 65th minute substitute.

In J2 League action, Socceroo Mark Milligan received a yellow card in JEF United’s entertaining 3-3 draw against Sagan Tosu. The result leaves united winless in 5 league games while Jade North was an unused substitute yet again for FC Tokyo in their 6-1 drubbing of Kyoto Sanga.

Over in Korea, Socceroo Sasa Ognenovski netted a double but could not prevent Seongnam from suffering a 3-2 defeat away to Suwon. The towering centreback struck in the 49th and 90th minute but it was not enough to stop Suwon walking away with all three points.

Robert Cornthwaite was named Man of the Match in Chunnam Dragons 2-0 win over Luke DeVere’s Gyeongnam. The Australian defender found the back of the net for Chunnam in the 60th minute to help inspire his team to victory and condemn Gyeongnam to their second straight defeat.

Iain Fyfe was absent from the clash between Busan I’Park and Daejeon Citizen. His side eventually prevailed 1-0 thanks to 30th minute strike from Brazilian, Fagner.

In the Chinese Super League Jonas Salley, Brendon Santalab and John Hutchinson were involved in Chengdu Blades goalless draw with Qingdao Jonoon. The draw leaves Chengdu at the foot of the table, seven points away from safety.

Joel Griffiths played a full 90 minutes in Beijing Guoan’s 0-0 draw against a Liaoning Hongyun side containing former Melbourne Heart defender Dean Heffernan. The defender, who quit Perth Glory without playing a game, was an 81st minute substitute in the goalless draw.

In the Danish Superliga, Nathan Coe was helpless to stop Sonderjyske suffering their first defeat in four games, going down to Horsens 3-1 at home.

Kerem Bulut was absent from the Mlada Boleslav squad that suffered a 4-1 hammering at home to Slovan Liberec in the Czech Liga.

In League One, Alex Cisak and James Wesolowski both played 90 minutes in Oldham Athletic’s 1-1 draw at home to Stevenage. The draw was Oldham’s second draw in as many weeks at Boundary Park.

Over in League Two, Shane Cansdell-Sherriff put in another full shift as Shrewsbury led from start to finish to defeat Hereford 3-1 and consolidate themselves in third position.
