Already impressed by the club's facilities, the former Greenock Morton midfielder was happy to be back playing under Postecoglou, his former youth mentor.

"I've played for Ange with the Joeys and the chance to work with him again was an alluring factor," he said today. "I've only been back for five-six days in the country but I already want to get started."

The 193cm central midfielder thinks a move to Roar is a step in the right direction for his career.

"Being in Scotland for the length of time I was, it just seemed like the right time to come back," he said. "I can definitely see the Brisbane Roar as platform to better myself and further my career."

He said he had learnt a lot in Scotland and was ready to present a physical presence in a midfield featuring Matt McKay, Mitch Nichols and Massimo Murdocca.

"Obviously I'm quite tall so I win a lot of headers and I'm a bit of physical presence. I keep the game pretty simple, keep the ball and try to read the game," he said.

Heading for his holiday, the 24-year-old was impressed by the facilities at Ballymore and Suncorp Stadium.

"The facilities are great compared to what I've been used to," Paartalu said.

Paartalu played twice for Australia Under 17s and was a member of NSL club the Northern Spirit before his stint in Scotland.
