Palace fans chanted Jedinak’s name during Wednesday morning’s (AEDT) dismal 2-1 home defeat to lowly Swansea City at Selhurst Park.

The manager who sold Jedinak to Aston Villa in the off-season, Alan Pardew, was sacked by Palace a fortnight ago, giving fans hope of a return.

Sam Allardyce has since been appointed as the new Palace boss and he would’ve noticed the supporters’ pleas.

Pardew replaced Jedinak with former Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini in the off-season, but the Frenchman has only started three games.

Palace fans argue that Jedinak, who spent five years at the club including several as skipper, has never been properly replaced.

The Australian skippered Palace to the FA Cup final last term and was popular with fans due to his combative nature in the middle of the park.

Jedinak missed Aston Villa’s 1-0 loss to Cardiff City in midweek due to illness but has been a regular for the side since his move.
