Crystal Palace's bid to sign Jerome Thomas is nearly finalised, according to the player's agent.
The 30-year-old's contract at West Brom expired at the end of last season and the former Charlton Athletic winger is now looking for a new home.
Palace are yet to make a signing since winning promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-off final but Thomas' agent said that his move to Selhurst Park is all but sealed.
"We're looking for everything to go through on time for him to sign on July 1," Tony Finnigan told the Croydon Advertiser.
"Talks are ongoing but they're positive. As long as everything is put together, he'll be signing on July 1. We haven't concluded how long the deal is for as Jerome has got to come and meet everyone at the club.
"He's spoken to Ian Holloway (Palace manager). Talks went well in terms of the football and what he was looking for him to do, and he's been an admirer of him for a long time.
"There were around 10 teams interested and there was one other Premier League club but we won't be doing that now because we want to pursue Palace."
