The outcome at La Favorita marked Palermo´s fourth defeat in five games and increased the pressure on under-fire Ballardini.

But Zamparini said: "I have no intention of sacking Ballardini.

"We clearly lost and this is the most difficult time I have experienced since being at Palermo.

"Now my players will train away from Palermo and will have to get busy working."

Sunday´s result saw the Rossaneri drop to 10th in the standings, eight points behind Roma, who hold the last European qualifying place.

Palermo face another challenge next weekend when they travel to Tuscany to meet fourth-placed Fiorentina.

Ballardini´s men will have to show a vast improvement in every department having struggled at both ends of the pitch in recent weeks.

Palermo have conceded six goals while failing to score in their last three games.
