Palestine made its Asian Cup debut in 2015 but failed to win a match in the group stage.

In next month's tournament they have been drawn to face Jordan, Syria and Australia.

Ali is confident the Fedayeen can pull off some upsets in the UAE. Palestine are currently ranked 99th in the world by FIFA but head into the Asian Cup undefeated in their past eight matches.

"We have had good results in our past five or six matches and that has led to some great team spirit in the team," Ali told the-AFC.com.

"And we also have pre-tournament friendlies lined up against Iraq and Kyrgyz Republic later this month which would give us a clear indication of what we are capable of.

"We are Palestine and we donโ€™t need any extra motivation to do well. In that way we are exceptional. Everything about us is exceptional.

"Obviously we were not experienced at that Asian Cup level then [in 2015] but then again it was a new experience. We learned many lessons. We figured out the problems and developed solutions.

"Now we are fully focused. The players know they can make history. They are ready to take on any team."

The Palestinians have been in Doha since early December training and on Christmas Eve secured a 1-1 draw with Asian powerhouses Iran.

They take on the Socceroos in Dubai on January 11.
