The Catalan club revealed the 21-year-old, who will cost Barcelona a potential 10million euros, will immediately join German side Bayer Leverkusen on a season-long loan.

A statement on the Barcelona website, www.fcbarcelona.cat, read: "Henrique Adriano Buss, 21, will arrive in Barcelona from Palmeiras to undergo a medical prior to his incorporation in the FC Barcelona squad.

"The cost of the operation between FC Barcelona and Palmeiras is 8million euros, plus 2million more depending on FC Barcelona's ability to qualify for the Champions League this season once the player's loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen has ended.

"Should he pass the medical, he will sign a contract linking him to FC Barcelona for the next five seasons, the first of which he will play on loan at German club Bayer Leverkusen."

Barca are set to make some money back on their investment by selling Catalan defender Oleguer Presas to Ajax.

The Nou Camp outfit confirmed on Tuesday that they agreed terms with the Dutch club to sell Oleguer for 3million euros plus an extra 2.25million should Ajax qualify for the Champions League during the next three seasons.

The Blaugrana side announced: "The final agreement now hangs on negotiations between the player and Ajax Amsterdam.

"Once agreement is reached the player will travel to Holland to undergo a medical."
