Palmer said Blatter had brought the game into disrepute and should be held accountable for his remarks, not only on the issue of racism in the game, but also the alleged ongoing corruption within football’s corridors of power.

And he called on Chairman Frank Lowy and CEO Ben Buckley to lead the way for the rest of the world to follow - and demand change at the very top of FIFA.

“The whole game has been brought into disrepute by the comments of FIFA Chairman Sepp Blatter about racism in the code and the perception of corruption that exists in the international game,” Palmer said.

"It’s time for FFA to stand up and demand that this sort of activity be challenged

“I call upon Frank Lowy and Ben Buckley to call for the resignation of Sepp Blatter as he has brought the game into disrepute.

“If they are not prepared to do that then I’ll be calling upon governments in various countries to move against their national associations and challenge football’s leadership.”

At Blatter's recent unopposed re-election as President, the FFA said they were backing the controversial leader, insisting privately that a token protest vote could hurt Australian football.
