GOLD Coast United Chairman Clive Palmer has done a U-turn on his stay away protest and will go to his club's derby debut against Brisbane Roar.
Palmer had vowed to boycott the club's A-League opener on Saturday after the venue was switched from United's Skilled Park to Roar's Suncorp Stadium.
But today he revealed he'd had a change of heart.
"I've decided to go to the game on Saturday night because I don't want to disappoint our supporters or our team," he said.
"This is an historic occasion for our club and I don't want to let our players down. Like the song says, ‘United we stand, divided we fall'."
Palmer added: "We have done everything together at this club since we started and we will be there together on Saturday night.
"We are ready, we are confident, we are United and we will never surrender!"
