A last-gasp point in Perth was followed by a 2-1 triumph over Sydney FC where Fury conceded a late equaliser only to respond immediately with a winning goal.

"The passion in this team is amazing, we fight for each other, we are here for each other," Payne told the Townsville Bulletin.

"You could tell when we all went to the bench to celebrate the first goal."

Saturday's result was the old footballing story of a player coming back to haunt his former club after Payne exited Moore Park at the end of last season.

"I congratulate him because he did a good performance (on Saturday)," Lavicka said. "We offered him a contract, but he made the decision that Fury would give him more chances to play, that is football.

"Now we have to find another striker (like Payne), which is problem for us."

Fury's next challenge is a trip to Melbourne Victory on Sunday.
