Peninsula Power to face mighty Melbourne City in cup
Peninsula Power got the dream draw in the FFA Cup Round of 32 after being handed a clash against reigning champions Melbourne City.
Power are playing in the tournament for the first time in their history and their coach Aaron Philp admitted: “This is a real David versus Goliath clash.
“It will be a big challenge for us, but we’ll get a big crowd for that one.”
Elsewhere, A-League champions Sydney FC must travel north to face Darwin FC, while dangerous minnows Heidelberg United will host Perth Glory.
Perth boss Kenny Lowe said: “We wanted an away game. We’ll have a good trip away and it will be a tough challenge before the A-League season starts.”
The three all A-League clashes are Wellington Phoenix v Western Sydney Wanderers, Brisbane Roar v Melbourne Victory and Adelaide United v Newcastle Jets.
At least nine non A-League teams are guaranteed to progress into the last 16 due to the way the FFA draw is run at this stage of the competition.
