The 19 year old – on loan to Celtic from Manchester City – took to Instagram from his hospital bed in Barcelona this morning to announce the surgery was done and a success.

The operation was performed by Dr Ramon Cugat in Barcelona at the insistence of City boss Guardiola to ensure the very best care for the teen Aussie sensation.

Based at Quironsalud hospital, Dr Cugat is the most highly rated knee specialist in Europe and has operated on some of the biggest names in world football.

City also turned to the world-renowned expert for surgery on Kevin De Bruyne and Vincent Kompany, and he has also treated Carlos Puyol, Cesc Fabregas and Fernando Torres among others in the past.

He was the doctor Guardiola himself turned to when the coaching genius was still a player and suffering a chronic long-term injury that had defied other medics.

After missing a year of football, including the 1998 World Cup, Guardiola ignored his own club's advice to speak to Dr Cugat...who instantly identified the problem and fixed it.

City flew Arzani to Barcelona immediately after the horror injury during his senior debut for Celtic against Dundee earlier this month.

Within hours of the agonising knee twist, Arzani was in the back of a Maybach limousine in Barcelona, on his way to see the specialist.

Today he posted a pic on Instagram of himself in his hospital bed with his mother, and added: "Surgery done and dusted, so so so keen to get started 🤙🏽 Love ya’ll ❤️"

The Aussie is expected to stay in Barcelona for rehab before returning to the UK, but he will miss the rest of this season.
