Keeper Reddy saw red for the incident in the weekend clash between Sydney FC and Central Coast Mariners that ended in a 1-1 draw after Perez successfully converted the resulting penalty.

But although Perez celebrated winning the spotkick with team-mates in the immediate aftermath, he is now sidelined for two weeks after Football Federation Australia ruled he dived to win the foul.

The FFA stepped in after an outcry following the Perez incident as well as Michael Baird's crash to the ground to win a last minute penalty equaliser for Perth Glory in their match against Melbourne Heart.

Like Perez, Baird was also banned for two weeks for his dive while Reddy's red card was overturned and he was spared any suspension.

Central Coast Mariners have furiously defended Perez and insist he was brought down in the box by Reddy.

“The player  is adamant that there was some sort of contact by Reddy on his trailing left leg, and we are 100% behind him”, said Mariners CEO John McKay.

Now au.fourfourtwo.com have obtained a key sequence of never-seen-before pictures of the Perez-Reddy incident, shot from a new angle and shown here in super slow motion.

Shot at around ten frames per second, Reddy's glove does come perilously close to Perez's left shin in one pic. Perez does not appear to lose balance and begin falling until two frames later.

The FFA are understood to be keen to stamp out a growing trend in the A-League for players to try for a penalty instead of scoring from open play.

The bans for Perez and Baird, and the reversal of Reddy's red card, serve as a line in the sand warning for both players and referees to cut out play-acting and exaggeration, and allow play to continue in future.
