Sydney FC’s top brass insist David Carney will be staying at the harbour city club.
Speaking this morning at Sydney FC’s back-of-shirt sponsorship announcement with HBA Australia, CEO George Perry assured fans no deal had been done or was in the offing for Super Dave.
“I can tell you that nothing has changed in the past 48 hours," he vowed.
"Nothing has changed since the rumours started with David going overseas. He’s still a contracted player with Sydney FC and we’ve received no formal offer and no official offer and nor has David or his agent to my knowledge.
"As far as we’re concerned he’s going to suit up come August 24 in the first game against the Central Coast."
Perry also pointed to the impressive displays of Carney and Mark Milligan for the Socceroos against Thailand as proof that A-League players are worthy to be chosen for the senior national side.
“Carney and Milligan have both performed particularly well for the Socceroos and it just goes to show that you don’t need to be overseas to vie for Socceroos selection," he said.
“Millsy is the same. In my mind he was the best player on the park on Monday night.
"He’s still only 22 but he’s got another year to run on his contract at Sydney FC and we’ve received no offers so he’ll come back to us when he finishes up on Socceroo duty at the end of the month.”
