Melbourne City had a lot of position, good pressing game, keeping Glory pinned but just couldn’t capitalise on the adventuring work down the left-hand side.
It was a tough and physical first half, with both sides trying to find an opening until the end of the 45 minutes, when Perth Glory opened their account. Chris Ikonomidis' 6- yards-out side footer put the ball into the back of the net.
All changed in the second half, City looked out of ideas, not creating too many clear chances. The sending off didn’t help Warren Joyce when Curtis Good was shown second yellow card.
Glory raised their game and started to boss the match. Tony Popovic's side looked comfortable and eased to a one nil win at NIB Stadium to move back to the top of the A-League ladder.
PERTH GLORY
Liam Reddy – 7
Early on quiet but punched the ball back into the 6-yard box, got away with one. Quiet in the second half but a good double fist punch away late on.
Matthew Spiranovic – 7
Coming back from a hip injury and hasn’t played for over a year. Spiranovic only lasted 30 minutes before being subbed.

Solid early challenges and did his job well throughout the match

Good movement on the left-hand side, always the work horse for Glory.
Neil Kilkenny – 7

Andy Keogh – 7
Dropping back to get into the game, making some decent runs.
Chris Ikonomidis – 7
Relatively quiet, the City defence putting in some heavy challenges. Pops up and scores Perth's opening and the only goal from close range. Rolled the defender with ease to have a soft shot on goal in the second half. Some good runs in the final third.
