Perth coach Kenny Lowe says he could stick with the 3-5-2 formation he employed against Sydney FC in the future despite going down to the Sky Blues.
Lowe changed his formation for the Sydney FC game with Aryn Williams, Shane Lowry and Dino Djulbic in a three-man backline. Adam Taggart grabbed the lead for Perth early but the NSW side finished 4-1 victors.
The Glory have only won three of their 11 fixtures so far. The Perth boss said he may stick with that new system for the rest of the season.
"We'll look at it," Lowe said.
"It might be the way forward for us. We created opportunities. The two wide boys got up high, 'Rizzo' and 'Waz' did really well. 'Millsy' came on, especially 'Rizzo', he was devastating up there. He had an excellent game.
"A lot of the boys had good games, it was just unfortunate the result didn't reflect that. I don't think it was a 4-1 game. I think we had more shots. They had opportunities, the first two and they took them.
"The third was a penalty and the fourth a set play. We had a couple and we didn't take them."
Lowe said the formation was brought about to try to exploit Sydney FC.
"We looked at what they do and decided to have a go," he said.
"We were decent value in the first half, we looked vibrant, we looked up for it. I thought we were like that for all of the game. We're trying something new so they'll be a few holes in it here and there.
"Because of that they're going to get opportunites. We've got to keep battling on and working hard and see where we head."
Rhys Williams was left out of the game, with Sydney FC linked to an approach to sign the Socceroo defender for the 2017/2018 campaign. Williams is contracted to Perth for next season.
"There was no issue, you pick the team that you think is going to the best team for the week and that's all we've done," Lowe said.
"That's the side we went out with. We picked the team that we thought was in the best frame of mind to play the way we wanted to play."
Lowe said Williams isn't going anywhere.
"He's a contracted player, he's part of the group," he said.
"You pick a team, sometimes people get in, sometimes people don't get in. That's how it works."
