On that occasion Glory lost 2-1, courtesy of a stunning Leo Bertos free-kick late in the game.

Wellington are now in impressive form, having scored nine goals in their last two games, and Mitchell wants his side to step up.

"When we played them last time I think we were unfortunate to lose there," he said. "We hit the bar, we had a goal cleared off the line, and we had numerous chances - we could have very well (won there).

"But as a team they have organised themselves, they are much better and they are playing a lot better then when we played them.

"It just shows that anyone that wins 6-0, then 3-0 in the last two games is a tough task for us. But that's the mental attitude I'm asking the boys to step up to."

Mitchell also paid tribute to his opposite number Ricki Herbert, saying he'd done a "great job" and believed  Phoenix would make the A-League finals.

The Glory coach also pointed out Phoenix striking duo of Paul Ifill and Chris Greenarce, who have both scored four goals this season, as players his side needed to be wary of.

"(Ifill's) a very good player," he said. "I knew him from when he played in England. He was at QPR and I knew he'd get better and better.

"Greenarce's been a great foil for him - because he's a very hard worker, closes people down and he's a bit of goalscorer as well."

Glory have been plagued with defensive lapses in the past few weeks, however, Mitchell refused to single any one player for blame.

"It's a team game, and we all got to take that responsibility for defending and also scoring. Collectively we're a unit and we don't like singling out any individuals.

"Losing three games on the spin isn't ideal and we want to stop the rot."

Glory marquee Mile Sterjovski, who was selected for the Socceroos squad for the Asian Cup Qualifier against Oman next week, said his side needed to concentrate on the little things if Glory were to snap a three-game losing streak.

"We know Wellington is not an easy team - they are on a pretty good run," he said. "At the same time we are coming off three losses and it's going to be a big game for us."

While Glory are still without Victor Sikora, who is still a few weeks away from recovering from a hamstring injury, striker Branko Jelic should return to the side after he was sidelined for the Melbourne Victory game with illness.
