Dimitri Petratos’s move to Newcastle Jets is off, Roar have confirmed.
The Brisbane star is set to move to South Korea.
He previously said he had to move back to New South Wales for family reasons prompting a three-year deal with Newcastle from next season.
His younger brother Kosta also signed with the Jets for 12 months.
Now the deal is off.
Daily Telegraph football writer Tom Smithies reports Petratos has signed for Ulsan Hyundai.
“Brisbane Roar would like to let our members and sponsors know that an offer has been accepted by the club for the transfer of Dimitri Petratos to Korean side Ulsan Hyundai, subject to the player completing a medical,” Roar said in a statement.
“Petratos, who travelled with the team to China, will head to Korea today and be unavailable for Wednesday night's AFC Asian Champions League qualifer against Shanghai Shenhua at Hongkou Football Stadium."
Newcastle said:
"Newcastle Jets acknowledge that Brisbane Roar has accepted an offer for the transfer of attacker Dimitri Petratos to Korea Republic’s Ulsan Hyundai, subject to a medical," the statement read.
"Should Petratos successfully complete his medical and agree personal terms in Korea he will not join Newcastle Jets ahead of the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 Season, as had been planned and announced.
"Newcastle Jets will receive compensation should the transfer be completed."
