WELLINGTON Phoenix admit they are keen to talk to All Whites striker Rory Fallon but there are obstacles in the way of any potential deal.
Fallon, who scored the goal that booked New Zealand's place at next month's World Cup, is currently on the books of English club Plymouth Argyle.
Argyle were relegated to the third tier of English football at the end of the season and Phoenix admit they are interested.
However, the player is still under contract and it isn't clear whether he would relish an A-League switch at this stage of his career.
There is also the issue of money with Phoenix indicating a reluctance to splash out a transfer fee.
Phoenix CEO Tony Pignata told the Sunday News: "There's a sniff and yes, I'll be talking to Rory.
"But he's got to want to come to the club and, in terms of contract, has to be available on a free transfer. We wouldn't pay transfer fees."
The World Cup will be a shop window for Fallon and Argyle may also wish to see what kind of return they couldĀ get for a player who cost them a hefty sum in 2007.
