WELLINGTON Phoenix will cast their eye over former Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Reece Crowther after he ended his spell with the London club.
The American-born 20-year-old arrived in Australia as a child and played his junior football in Sydney before trying his luck overseas.
Rangers website today announced his departure, wishing him well after his deal was terminated by mutual consent.
He joined Queens Park Rangers in 2006 and has been a regular for the reserves this season. However, the club has announced a parting of the ways. The A-League could be his next destination with Phoenix coaching staff offering him a month's trial to impress.
Crowther, who measures 196cm (6ft 6) will be closely scrutinised by new Phoenix assistant coach Jonathan Gould, himself a former goalkeeper.
Phoenix have a gap for a fresh custodian with Glen Moss having moved on to Melbourne Victory.
Crowther will not be alone in trying to earn himself a deal with the club. Also on a month's trial will be strikers Roy Krishna (Waitakere United) and Luis Corrales (Team Wellington).
