Three wins on the bounce, the latest being a 2-1 triumph over leaders Melbourne Victory, leaves the New Zealanders only five points adrift of top spot with eight matches remaining.

Durante told the Dominion Post: "We definitely have aspirations for the top four and if we keep going the way we're going there's no reason why we can't even push for one or two.

"We're going to take it week by week, but the boys are just very fired up at the moment."

While Shane Smeltz remains a vital source of goals, others are now starting to chip in and that has made a big difference.

Durante said: "Not scoring enough goals in the first part of the season really hurt us.

"Now that we are starting to hit the back of the net we are starting to put teams under some real pressure.

"We've copped our fair share of criticism throughout the season but we've turned it around and three from three is fantastic."
