Phoenix are delighted so many members of the current squad have already committed to fresh contracts with the club.

Now they are hoping that goalkeepers Paston and Crowther plus the versatile Hearfield will put to pen to paper as well.

"We're close," Phoenix CEO Tony Piganta told au.fourfourtwo.com today. "We've already agreed deals for other members of the squad and we're hopeful that we can add these three players to that list.

"I think stability, combined with some fresh injections, is so important when you're trying to build something."

Paston is out of action at present through injury but is expected to be New Zealand's number one choice for the World Cup. Crowther has done enough in his appearances to warrant a new deal while Hearfield has been utilised in a more defensive role by Herbert this season.

Pignata added: "There's a good spirit among the squad."
