Leo Bertos recently penned an extended contract with Ricki Herbert's men and now several of his colleagues are preparing to follow his lead.

Although the identities of the individuals remain a mystery at this point, Phoenix CEO Tony Pignata is delighted with such a strong show of faith in the club's future.

Considerable uncertainty surrounds the club's A-League involvement beyond the end of next season with the Asian Confederation distinctly cool on their continued participation in the competition.

FIFA and Football Federation Australia appear far more supportive but Phoenix just want the situation resolved as speedily as possible.

"We're hoping to announce in the next few days that another three players have committed to long-term deals," Pignata told au.fourfourtwo.com today. "Terry Serepisos has sat everyone down and made it clear that he's here and we're here for the long haul.

"We've spoken to Ben Buckley and Archie Fraser and obviously we just want to get the licence situation resolved and push forward."

Pignata believes the club has more than proved it is a worthy member of the competition and a club with ambition.

"We want to build a squad where you know the players can develop together over a period of years, push for (finals) contention. No-one here simply wants to make up the numbers," he said.

Pignata revealed that the impact made by Phoenix's pre-season recruits was already sowing the seeds for potential future additions.

The CEO added: "Both Chris Greenacre and Paul Ifil have told me that they have football friends ringing them and asking about the Phoenix and possibilities of playing in the A-League. So that's great to hear.

"We're happy with the way things are going, we are always looking to improve but we're happy with the backing we're getting. Our crowds are up 12.3 per cent on last season and I think we try and play a good brand of football."

After a break due to international commitments, Phoenix resume A-League action this weekend when they take on North Queensland Fury in Townsville.
