The South American stars will play Phoenix on July 23 as part of  the tour which also pits them against Melbourne Victory.

Boca Juniors share a record of having won 18 international titles with the Italian club AC Milan.

Phoenix chief executive Tony Pignata said: "Boca Juniors are one of the world's top clubs and we're excited by the prospect of Phoenix taking on a team of such high calibre at Westpac Stadium.

"This will be a fantastic opportunity for fans to see some of the world's best players in action and will be a tremendous hit-out for the Phoenix as we head into the competition season."

With Phoenix having made it to within one game of the Hyundai A-League final, and the All Whites heading to South Africa for the World Cup, the game is on an unprecedented high in New Zealand.

Pignata added: "We at Phoenix want to see that high continue now and long-term, and this match against Boca Juniors is testament to that ambition."
