Chad Gibson says Graham Arnold would be mad not to pick super-skilful Nicky Carle for the Asian Cup.
The former Queensland Roar skipper says Carle's "ability to change a game" will be invaluable when we need to unlock Asian defences.
"Technically, he's the best we have in the A-League and he's the most gifted ... as he showed on Saturday night, he can create something out of nothing," Gibson told au.fourfourtwo.com.
"You need guys like that. Obviously with guys like Harry [Kewell] and Timmy [Cahill] hopefully back we have options but Nick should be there. As Arnie says, he has that X-factor."
There is a groundswell of support for Carle to remain with the green and gold. Many feel he provides something different to what we already have.
Gibson himself is currently playing for NSW premier league table topper Blacktown City Demons while his agent looks to place the defender back in the A-League.
Rumours of a move to Sydney FC continue. Gibson adds, "there are a few options in Asia but I'd prefer to stay in Australia."
The 30-year-old has also found out how tough life can be in the state leagues. He recently received twelve stitches in his head after an elbow in a league match. "But I"m enjoying playing for the Demons," adds Gibson.
