Kuwait swept past a sub par Australian performance to claim all three points with their 1-0 win, leaving the Roos at the foot of the table.

After branding Archie Thompson and Danny Allsopp's performance 'hopeless in the Indonesia game, the A-League based Aussieroos were keen to prove their worth.

Instead though they failed to shine against an impressive Kuwait outfit.

"It's not damaging but it's a very disappinting result, Pim admitted at full-time. "You have to win your home games. You start very well with a point against Indonesia and you have to do it here."

He added: "We are very disappointed about the result and also about the performance. I think Kuwait was the better team but I have seen my players playing better also

"Kuwait played defensively, very well organised, which means you have to play faster Ball circulation has to be faster, you have no time to take decisions and that's exactly what we didn't do.

"We played too slow, there wasn;t enough movement and the final pass was not good. You create difficulties."

Verbeek was scathing about the lacklustre Australian side that lacked the commitment shown by the Kuwait side - but ruled out any criticism of the team selection.

"The goal was very unlucky out of a free kick and then you have to take risks," he said. "We didn't create maybe one chance in the second half. Overall very disappointing.

"can do much better. We know that. We see that on the training field and in the A-League. If that happens then we can say okay we lost 1-0 but we played our best...

"But they can play better but they didn't show it tonight and that makes it disappointing. We had 20,000 people in the stadium this evening - great atmosphere, it was fantastic and they have to perform better."

He added: "It was impossible to bring back European players because all the leagues are playing. Second, these players deserved a chance and again, they can do much better.

"The next game is in November which is six months away and then we have to find out what we are going to do at that stage."
