The outspoken Newcastle Jet had been touted for a recall to the international fold by club boss Gary van Egmond.

The Jets boss has been hugely impressed with the player's contribution to the Asian Champions League campaign and labelled him a 'wonderful player' worthy of a call up.

However, Verbeek has poured cold water over talk of such a move and when asked today whether the former Melbourne Victory man was in his plans for June, simply replied: "No."

When pressed as to why, the Socceroos coach said: "I have very good central defenders and I don't think he (Milicevic) is better."

Another player who doesn't appear to be in Verbeek's plans is Portugal-based performer Richard Porta.

Verbeek was asked today if the Belenses player was in his thoughts but the coach said Porta had not been in touch to say he wanted to play for Australia.
