Verbeek told reporters from the team camp in Dubai that the Socceroos are going to be going for all three points against Qatar, a team they have beaten three times in the past 18 months.

"I think there's not many teams in the world who go for a point. I think we should go for three points. I always said that if there's nothing to gain from the last ten minutes, and you can go for one point, then we go for one point," he said. "The first 80 minutes we'll definitely go for three points."

Meanwhile, Verbeek believes Harry Kewell, who he has described on several occasions as his most valuable player, is in the best shape he has been under the Dutchman's reign in charge of Australia.

He said that Kewell has benefitted greatly from his first season in Turkey, where he has been playing for Galatasaray, and expects him top perform well in the upcoming qualifiers.

"Never seen him better. I thought already in the Uzbekistan game, he looked very, very fit, and of course you see the way he looks, the way he's acting and the way he's running. I don't think he's looked any better," he said.

Meanwhile, Verbeek has shrugged of any concern over the fitness of Scott Chipperfield, despite the veteran wing-back missing a training session.

"We took out Chippers to save his energy a little bit for the Saturday game. They are all fit, they are all ready and they are ready to finish it off."
