Speaking to the media this evening after announcing his squad for the next World Cup qualifier Verbeek was in positive mood.

He said the tried and tested method of qualification was win your home games and get a point on the road. But Verbeek said his team would head off looking for a full haul.

He said: "We go for a win, we go there to win the game."

The only dark cloud on the horizon is a hamstring injury to Grella which forced him off in the dying stages of the first half in Blackburn's defeat by Chelsea overnight.

Verbeek said Greela's injury situation didn't look good and admitted the Aussie hardman midfielder was a "big doubt".

Scott Chipperfield's absence has also led to questions over the left side but Verbeek retains faith in both David Carney and also Shane Stefanutto.

The coach has been more than happy with Carney's international efforts thus far and expects him to get another 90 minutes under his belt this week for Sheffield United reserves.

Stefanutto's season in Norway has just finished but he is expected back in Australia to keep up his fitness levels.

Verbeek said: "No worries at all (on the left side)."

He also pointed to the ability of the returning Harry Kewell and Mark Bresciano to perform down that flank as well.

Josh Kennedy and Scott McDonald are hotly tipped to get the striking berths with Verbeek revealing he had caught up with McDonald after Celtic's recent win over Hearts and he had also taken in Kennedy in action for Karlsruhe.

Verbeek revealed that he was happy to see numerous strikers finding the net, mentioning A-League duo Matt Simon and Nikita Rukavytsya.

Seven A-League players are on the standby list but Craig Moore is the only Australian-based performer to make the Bahrain squad.

Adam Federici's elevation to the senior squad is a reward for 'a good Olympics' according to Verbeek, that and his performances on loan for English third tier outfit Southend United.

Verbeek is aware that Eugene Galekovic is not 100 per cent and has been part of Adelaide United's punishing schedule.

The coach's only other concern is seeing which of his selected players turn up in one piece - and at what time.

Mark Bresciano is expected to be the last to arrive, either very late on the Monday or early Tuesday morning. As for the rest of his European-based stars, Verbeek expects half to arrive on the Sunday with the other half on Monday morning.
