Verbeek had originally intended to name just the 27 players that will make it onto the plane to South Africa.

But the run of injuries cursing the squad has forced him to name an extended 30-man squad that will be culled down once he has the chance to see how players like Harry Kewell and Mark Bresciano pull up in training.

The game against New Zealand at the MCG in a forntight will also be an excellent opportunity to see who is and is not match fit - and who can be reconditioned in time for kick-off in South Africa.

Bolters expected to be named today include former Brisbane Roar flyer Tommy Oar, and a return to the Australia defence for former Central Coast Mariner - and expected Melbourne Heart signing - Michael Beauchamp.
