Gerard Pique has admitted Barcelona must be patient in their attempts to get Cesc Fabregas to the Nou Camp.
The transfer saga of the summer is still no nearer conclusion.
Fabregas wants to leave but, thus far, the Champions League winners have not come up with an acceptable offer for the Arsenal skipper.
And Pique, whose own move back to Barcelona from Manchester United three years ago has paid off in quite astonishing fashion, believes the deal should be allowed to run its course.
"All signings have their due process," said the Spain defender.
"Some are easy, some are more complicated.
"He is an important player for Arsenal so it is sensible that they are trying to keep him.
"There has been a lot of talk about this, which is normal.
"It is best to let the negotiations take their due course and see what happens."
Team-mate Xavi certainly does not buy into the belief that the emergence of Thiago, who scored both goals in Barca's Audi Cup win over hosts Bayern Munich yesterday, would be hampered by Fabregas' arrival.
"There will be games for all the players," said the brilliant midfielder.
"In any case, Thiago is compatible with Fabregas."
Having landed in the early hours of the morning, Barcelona had to scrap a planned workout in the shadow of the White House on protocol grounds this morning.
However, they still have a couple of days to shake the jet-lag out of their systems before tackling Manchester United in a repeat of last season's Champions League final.
Pique described Barca's success at Wembley in May as "lucky", a view at odds with the vast majority of observers, who merely felt United had been comprehensively outplayed, a view shared by Xavi.
"We were better. A lot better," he said.
"We dominated and kept the ball, which is part of our philosophy at Barcelona.
"Our coach said afterwards we were the superior team and I agreed with that."
Barcelona have arrived in the United States without star man Lionel Messi, whose Copa America campaign with Argentina only came to an end a fortnight ago.
"It is clear we need him for a long season in front of us. It makes sense for us to rest him at this moment in time," said Xavi.
