Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro has targeted Champions League success after years of disappointment at Bayern Munich.
The 28-year-old scored against Birmingham on his home debut on Sunday and is determined to help them win back the Premier League title from Manchester United, although European glory is also on his mind.
Chief executive Peter Kenyon has stated that Champions League success would take the club to the next level, and Pizarro believes winning the trophy this season is a possibility.
"I think this team has lots of potential to win trophies and I want as many as possible," said the Peru captain.
"Obviously the most important things are the Premier League and the Champions League. Winning the Champions League is one of my ambitions and I couldn't do it at Bayern.
"We have lots of good players at Chelsea and we have a really good chance of winning it."
Pizarro joined Bayern just after the German giants won Europe's top prize but in his six seasons never got past the quarter-final stage, with Chelsea defeating them three seasons ago.
The group stages for the current campaign starts next month, with Pizarro concentrating on domestic matters for the time being, Reading on Wednesday and Liverpool at the weekend next on the agenda.
His encouraging home debut saw him drop off strike partner Salomon Kalou and collect the ball from deep, and he was also on the end of a Shaun Wright-Phillips cross to cancel out Mikael Forssell's opener in the 3-2 win for Chelsea.
"I thought Pizarro would adapt to Chelsea," said boss Jose Mourinho.
"One of the reasons was because he played for Bayern Munich, a team with many responsibilities."
Mourinho will eventually have the option of pairing Pizarro with Didier Drogba after the Ivory Coast striker came off the bench to step up his return from injury. Kalou and Andriy Shevchenko add to the competition for places.
"We had two strikers (at Bayern) but one dropped off a bit, and that was me," Pizarro said. "The main striker was firstly Giovane Elber and then Roy Makaay."
Pizarro is hoping for another chance to impress when Chelsea travel to the Madejski Stadium on Wednesday.
"Hopefully I can keep my place after a start like that," he said.
"I am working hard for that and know there is a lot of competition. Jose just told me to play the way I have been playing."
Along with Drogba's 27 minutes of action against Birmingham, the good news for Mourinho was Paulo Ferreira and Claude Makelele returning to training.
New arrival Alex also trained and significantly for Mourinho, as well as England boss Steve McClaren, was John Terry playing a small part in the session.
