THERE are still places available on the FFA course for aspiring coaches keen to start out on the Advanced Coaching pathway and wanting to pursue a professional coaching career.
Each year there is one centralised C Licence course at the AIS in Canberra and the two week residential course lets candidates get fully immersed in it while building a network of coaching contacts nationwide.
This year's course will run from June 12-23 and to register, you simply, all you need to do is head to Football Federation Australia’s website to download the application form then send it in.
But the closing date for applications is May 31 so you’ll need to get moving!
More details on the Advanced Coaching Pathway are available here.
The FFA recently announced the appointment of Rob Sherman to the newly created position of Advanced Coaching Manager.
Sherman has been working with FFA as a technical consultant since 2008 and will be responsible for the B- and C- Coaching Licence Courses and Instructor training while also providing support for the Pro-Diploma and A-Licence Coaching Courses.
FFA Technical Director Han Berger believes that Sherman’s appointment will strengthen FFA’s Coach Education program.
“To have someone of Rob’s standing in the international football community within our organization is a major coup for football in Australia”, said Berger.
“Our FFA Strategic Plan outlines a commitment to developing a larger number of professional Australian coaches by means of a world-class Advanced Education Department and Rob will be a key figure in that process.
“We look forward to working closely with Rob as we enter the next stage of coach education in Australia.”
Sherman was excited about joining FFA on a full-time basis.
‘I’m proud to have been involved with the upgrading of FFA’s Advanced Coaching Courses, and I believe they are now as good as any I have seen or worked on’ said Sherman.
‘I’m really excited to come on-board as we take Advanced Coach Education to an even higher level.”
