According to strong reports in Australian and Polish media, Sydney FC are deep in negotiations with the 30-year-old midfielder.

Mierzejewski has most recently been playing in the United Arab Emirates for Al-Sharjah where he spent one season.

Before that the 40-time Poland international had been playing in Saudi Arabia for Al Nassr.

After making his senior debut for Stomil Olsztyn in 2003 as a 16-year-old, Mierzejewski moved to Wisla Plock where he spent five years playing in the top flight.

From there he joined Polonia Warsaw in 2009, which saw him impress enough to make his international debut in 2010.

He shined at Polonia, captaining the side and even winning the player of the season award in 2010/11.

Mierzejewski then became the most expensive transfer out of the Polish league at the time when he was purchased by Turkish club Trabzonspor for 5.25million Euros.

He spent three seasons with the Turkish outfit before making the move to Al Nassr, who purchased him for over 3 million Euros.
