Popovic’s two-month stint has been a tough one with Karabukspor at the bottom of the ladder and knocked out of the Turkish Cup after eight-straight losses.

He has managed just one win since joining the club after leaving the Wanderers on the eve of the A-league season with Turkish media outlet Aksam.tr reporting the club is “preparing to end Popovic’s spell”.

Popovic is set to face the board with the club reportedly already in the process of finding a new coach.

His stint at Karabukspor was made even more difficult after the club’s board and chairman walked out last month.

At the time, Popovic was left stunned by the departures.

“That was one of the shocks we didn’t expect,” Popovic told TRT World.

“We won the first game here, even though we defended for the whole game with 10 men but we ground out a 1-0 win.

“Four days later we heard the president was leaving, the board was leaving, the sporting director was leaving and basically we were on our own.”

More to come.
