Western Sydney Wanderers will be at full strength for Friday night’s elimination final against Brisbane Roar.
Tony Popovic’s side have endured a heavy schedule in recent weeks, juggling their AFC Champions League commitments with their push to make the A-League finals.
Popovic opted to rest Mitch Nichols, Jumpei Kusukami, Terry Antonis, Scott Neville and top scorer Brendon Santalab for Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Adelaide United.
“Most of those will be back in the squad, that’s for certain,” Popovic said.
“A lot of those players played on the Saturday and then the Tuesday in the Champions League, it was a good opportunity to rest some tired bodies but also give an opportunity to other players to put themselves forward and in contention for the finals.
“I thought a lot of the players did a fantastic job in Adelaide, especially coming from behind.
“It gives us a good selection headache coming into this game. All the players have put their hand forward this week.”
In further good news for Wanderers, young attacker Jaushua Sotirio is available to play after tightness, which has kept him out for three games.
“Everyone is fit and well,” Popovic said. “Everyone trained yesterday.
“Young Sotirio has trained for several days now so he’s back in contention.
“We’re pleased to have everyone on board and ready for the game.”
Wanderers memorably defeated Brisbane 5-4 in last season’s A-League semi-finals, although that match was on home turf.
Western Sydney have failed to win in all three of the club’s encounters against Roar this term.
“This year we haven’t managed to beat them but we’ve had three fantastic matches,” Popovic said.
“This time we’d love to have another great game against them and this time turn it in our favour.
“We come into the finals full of confidence and playing good football.
“We’ll see whether that counts for something tomorrow night.”
